MPA Europe, will take centre stage at the workshop, “Strengthening ecosystem-based approach in MSP and supporting sustainable blue economy,” set to unfold in Helsinki from June 13th to 15th, 2023.

The joint workshop, organized by the eMSP-NBSR and MSP4BIO projects with support from the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Policy Area Spatial Planning, will gather experts and stakeholders for three days of interactive sessions focused on crucial themes. Among these themes, MPA Europe team will present the goals of this project, highlighting the significant contribution of marine spatial planning (MSP) to establishing and maintaining a coherent network of Marine Protected Areas and other spatial conservation measures.

As the workshop seeks to address the critical role of MSP in overall progress towards Good Environmental Status and the international framework for ecosystem-based approach in MSP, MPA Europe stands at the forefront, as it will provide valuable insights and recommendations derived from its data-driven analyses. The project’s commitment to achieving several firsts in terms of products based on new data underscores its ambition to revolutionize marine spatial planning, contributing significantly to the sustainable blue economy agenda and fostering a harmonious interaction between human activities and the natural environment.
