MPA Europe at European Maritime Day 2023

26/05/2023

MPA Europe, an innovative Horizon Europe project aimed at identifying optimal locations for Marine Protected Areas in European seas, made a resounding presence at this year’s European Maritime Day held in Brest, France. With its unique and overarching approach, MPA Europe seeks to improve marine spatial planning and pave the way for sustainable conservation efforts in our oceans.

The European Maritime Day, celebrated in a two-day conference, served as the ideal platform for MPA Europe to showcase its ambitious goals and innovative methodologies. The event witnessed the convergence of prominent experts, stakeholders, and inspirational speakers from across Europe and beyond. The high-level plenary sessions sparked engaging discussions, inspiring leadership exchanges, and thought-provoking stakeholder workshops, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among maritime professionals.

MPA Europe’s presence at European Maritime Day 2023 exemplified the project’s unwavering commitment to driving positive change in marine conservation, by bridging the gap between scientific research, technology, and policymaking. With its global approach for all European seas, this project is poised to create a lasting impact on our oceans.

It was also a great opportunity, together with the MSP platform team that launched the European Blue Forum on the 26th of May to work with other projects, to promote knowledge in the field of marine spatial planning throughout Europe.
