During the summer, the MPA Europe team hosted a series of online workshops with national and regional stakeholders from each sea basin in Europe to present the project’s scope, goals, and activities. More detailed topics included data sources and access, blue carbon data and scoring system, prioritisation scenarios and climate change effects on species’ distribution ranges, the interaction of project results with existing MPAs, OECMs, and blue economy activities, and stakeholders’ engagement. Representatives from national planning authorities and institutes, regional seas conventions and councils, NGOs, protected area management networks, and sister projects, including Mission Lighthouses and Mission Blue Parks, joined these sessions and provided detailed and diverse questions and feedback by sea basin. We have summarised these in a series of FAQs, so that so that the points discussed within different sea basin groups can be shared across all stakeholders and interested parties.
