All contributions to the International Conference MPAinMSP, hosted by MPA Europe and taking place in Bodø, Norway, this week, are invited to submit a paper to the MPAinMSP conference proceedings, which will be published as a special issue of Frontiers of Biogeography.

This peer-reviewed, open-access, and non-profit journal (Scopus Citescore 5.5, Clarivate 2.5) will consider all kinds of papers —reviews, perspectives, and analytical papers— submitted until 1 November 2025. Papers will be published online as they are accepted.

In support of this initiative, MPA Europe will cover the Article Processing Charges (APC) for the first ten papers accepted for publication.

This special issue offers an opportunity to contribute to the international dialogue on integrating MPA into MSP, a topic central to MPA Europe’s mission of identifying optimal locations for marine protection in European seas and the core issue bringing together the over 150 participants at MPAinMSP, from scientists and planners to policymakers and NGOs.
